Overnight ride for the GSers via gravel roads through the Brindabella valley, Tumut Forest Roads & Long Plain Road to Blue Waterholes Camp Ground (Kosciuszko National Park). Tumut NP office map of the route through to Blue Waterholes can be seen here.
It's "back to basics" camping, bringing your own food, water, & camp gear.
UPDATE: It will come as no surprise that there's a solid fuel fire ban in the park at the moment - so bring your gas cooker.
Return the following day, via Adaminaby (breakfast), Shannons Flat, Tharwa.
Blue Waterholes Camp Ground is located in a karst region of small limestone caves and gorges, such as nearby Clarke Gorge. Swimming is an option in the Blue Waterholes area, so that might be attractive given the forecast temperatures. Details on walks in the vicinity of Blue Waterholes can be found here.
